The 4Lug Story
From a passion for automobiles that began at an early age, to a life spent putting it into practice, 4Lug is a convergence of years of passion and professional experience coming together to serve one goal... Serving a community of automotive enthusiasts by enabling them to share their passion with others through quality design.
The 4Lug name comes from the creator's history with classic Japanese sports cars. It all started with a Honda 1986 CRX HF, which led to the GENONE Blog, which then lead to the creation of the annual Classic Hondas on the Dragon event.
4Lug Design is just the next chapter in the pursuit of a life-long passion and the desire to bring like-minded automotive enthusiasts together to express themselves.
What Drives 4Lug
We've got plenty of passion but that won't make things happen without Experience and Attention to Detail. Learn more about what makes 4Lug so unique.

Experience
4Lug's designer, Stephen Dettman, has been doing this for a long time. 20 years of professional experience as a product designer has provided the tools to create at a high level. In addition to product design, he specializes in graphic and interface design, as well as photography.

Attention to Detail
4Lug's designer has been in product design, specializing in manufacturing electronics for over 15 years. You can't succeed in that field without a focused attention to detail. Sprinkle in a little OCD and you're golden.

Fueled By Passion
4Lug wouldn't be here without a lot of passion. That unwavering drive to pursue something that tugs at your heart no matter how many times life tries to keep you down. We have it, and it's all about cars and driving them. Why don't you take a drive with us?
Cars are some of the most intoxicating, most beautiful things ever forged by mankind.

How We Got Here

1985
It Started Early
My obsession with all things wheeled started at a very young age. This rad ride you see me riding (at age 2) was quickly replaced by the famous 'Big Wheel' of the late 80's early 90's. I rode that thing so hard he plastic front wheel disintegrated.

1999
My First Classic Honda
My obsession came into focus when I came across my first Honda CRX. A friend of my best friend showed up one day driving a 1986 Honda CRX HF (Pictured). He was 6'2" and had just stepped out of one of the smallest cars I'd ever seen, looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. He had just driven over 6hrs straight and got over 50mpgs. I was blown away. Years later, I bought the car from him. I had to have it.

2006
Things Escalated Quickly
From the moment I saw my first CRX, I was hooked. By the time I purchase my third CRX, it was time to put all that I had learned into building one for myself. I knew the capabilities of the first generation CRX, with it's lightweight chassis and torsion bar suspension. I wanted to build my version of a 'drivers car'. So I did.

GENONE Blog to CHD
During my journey with my CRX's I met a lot of amazing people and realized how incredible the community was, and how underserved they were. I created the GENONE Blog to spread the word about how fantastic the cars were, and bring folks in the community together. It seemed unfair that all these wonderful people were sprinkled across the country but very rarely got together.
A few years later, I took it to the next level and founded the annual Classic Hondas on the Dragon event. I was living nearby and I knew that there were plenty of folks nearby who could join. It worked well and its success has continued to fuel my drive to support the community.

4Lug Is Born
After 10 years of hosting the Classic Hondas on the Dragon event with a fantastic group of fellow equally passionate enthusiasts, I decided to take things to yet another level. I want to enable the community to express their passion for cars and driving, and that's what 4Lug is about. It isn't just for Honda owners, it's here for anyone who wants to tell the world how much vehicle ownership means to them and how important the experience of driving is. The love of driving is what joins all enthusiasts in the automotive community. When you see the 4Lug logo out there in the wild, you will know you're among friends.
